Our Hope For Unity

The apostle Paul opens chapter 15 by once again stressing that debatable matters – areas in which Scripture neither commands nor condemns – must not be allowed to hinder the unity of the church. The Jewish and Gentile believers in Rome were from very different backgrounds, and yet they were to come together in one voice and one mind to glorify God above everything. If this were to happen, they would have to follow Christ’s example, the example of Scripture as a whole, and rely on the power of God in their lives. The same is true for us today.
